Whoa, whoa. Easy there, you dirty hippie. When we say “free love,” we’re not referring to the next meeting of the Rainbow Family of Living Light — we’re talking about a chance to play Eskil Steenberg’s lovely little MMORPG, Love, at zero cost this Labor Day weekend. The offer will being around 1AM ET this Friday, at which point you’ll be able to download the client on the game’s official site. This free sample will be available until 7AM ET on Monday.

Now, that’s what you have to do to get in on the free Love weekend. What you should do is watch this gameplay demonstration, so you’ll know what the hell you’re doing once you start making changes to the MMO’s completely procedural world.

Put your thinking caps on, friends — it’s time to get to work on dissecting the image seen above. The photo in question was recently emailed to fans of indie dev Gaijin Games as a teaser for the next entry in its musically-inclined series, Bit.Trip Fate. The email accompanying the image included a challenge from Gaijin, who stated “the discerning BIT.TRIPPER will be able to figure it all out.” We consider ourselves pretty hardcore fans of the franchise, and, wow, we have absolutely no idea what’s going on up there.

The game’s official site mentions the title will receive a WiiWare release sometime this fall, so less cryptic information on Fate should surface soon. In the mean time, we’re just going to assume it’s a game about a snake made of light which likes to eat lava.

If you waltz into your local Best Buy today, you’ll find precisely one tablet for sale: Apple’s iPad. By the time this holiday season rolls around, though, that’ll all be different. We’ve heard from Steve Ballmer that Microsoft intends for Windows 7 to be powering quite a few tablet devices in the near future, but it’s been somewhat difficult to nail down exact time frames for release outside of Samsung’s Q3-bound Galaxy Tab (which won’t even run Windows). According to Shawn Score, president of Best Buy Mobile, the company will be making “tablets a focus… going into the holidays.” He continued: “Like e-readers over the last couple years, we think customers will think of Best Buy for tablets and expect us to have the right ones.” He wouldn’t go so far as to confirm the models or brands of any headed Best Buy’s way, but we’re seeing even more hints that those Rocketfish images tweeted a few weeks ago may indeed foreshadow a holiday launch. We sure hope Santa’s ready to deal with the onslaught.

So we just got a second batch of T-Mobile G2 shots dropped in our mailbox — and this time, you can get a much better look at the inner workings of the carrier’s version of the upcoming HTC Vision. Looks like this bad boy slides and tilts, which eliminates the need for a kickstand and is very likely causing you to breathe an audible sigh of relief right about now. Meanwhile, the backside reveals that HTC looks ready to really get into this asymmetrical design concept — something we’ve definitely seen on the Schubert / Mozart — and realistically, it’s probably going to polarize some buyers. Check out the gallery for a few more shots!

Update: We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we’ve just been told that the G2 doesn’t have a tilting screen, despite what you see up there — it’s just the inner workings of the slide being pulled up. Our hearts have been ripped from our chests on this one, rest assured.

T-Mobile G2 again, this time with less Mr. Blurrycam originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 20 Aug 2010 13:10:00 EDT. Please see our terms for use of feeds.
